Attractive programme for OK and OK-Junior in France

Launched in France in 2016, in 2017 the new international categories OK and OK-Junior follow the lowering of the ages by the CIK-FIA. The FFSA is organising a French Championship over three events for OK, as well as an OK-Junior French Cup open to all, at the Le Mans kart circuit ideally scheduled before the French round of the European Championships and the second round of the Academy Trophy. An opportunity not to be missed to prepare for the CIK-FIA meeting at Le Mans!

France is the only country to follow almost all of the CIK-FIA regulations for these new categories, except for the minimum weight for OK (150 kg instead of 145 kg). The most important point concerns the tyres which are identical to those used by the CIK-FIA: Vega XH2 and W5 in Junior and LeCont LP and LW in OK which maximum preparatory value to the French Cup.

The French organised at Le Mans on 27th and 28th May 2017 therefore offers French and foreign drivers the best opportunity to train in race conditions before the CIK-FIA event on 1st and 2nd July. This interest may even extend to the drivers of the CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy who will compete in their second Le Mans competition on the same date and may wish to prepare in OK-Junior.

The same goes for the KZ2 drivers, who were also welcomed at the French Cup at Le Mans on LeCont LO tyres, as well as for teams that can optimise their travel to the Sarthe in several categories. International and national licenses (French or foreign, with the approval of the ASN) are accepted.

An exceptional prize will be awarded to the winners of the French Cup in OK and OK-Junior who will be offered their entry to the CIK-FIA meeting as well as a test day in the F4 French Championship. The 2nd and 3rd drivers will be welcomed by the FFSA Academy for physical tests.

The French OK Championship, now accessible to drivers who reach the age of 14 in the year, is gaining momentum in 2017 with its three events. Although it is aimed primarily at French drivers, it is also open to foreign drivers who can aim for victory, but not the title.
